Wind Flow Animation on the Northwest Coast of Gran Canaria

Today, we’re excited to present a detailed animation showcasing surface wind flow over the northwest coast of Gran Canaria. This 2-hour animation, captured at a high spatial resolution of 200 meters and temporal resolution of 1 minute, provides an in-depth look at the dynamic wind patterns in this region.

Advanced Tools and Technologies

To create this animation, we used the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, along with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and High-Performance Computing (HPC). These advanced tools allow us to accurately simulate and visualize the intricate interactions between wind and the island’s diverse terrain. Each frame of the animation, captured every minute, reveals the complexity of wind behavior influenced by Gran Canaria’s unique geographical features.

Be patient, it’s a heavy animation.. then enjoy!..
